Culture Shock | BLK GEN

Event Details

Beijing based edutainment group, BLK GEN presents a classic nite of Spoken Word & Slam Poetry for the CULTURE in celebration of National Poetry Month!

BLK GEN intends to raise the awareness, and to articulate the presence of the Black Diaspora through creative expression, and cultural mores. Don’t miss this opportunity of enrichment this April 6th, purchase your tickets now! See you at Culture Shock’

If you have had the chance to view “Black Panther”, then you have to marvel at the genius of the people of the African diaspora. You must also wonder why that genius and magnificence has escaped the headlines and television news-stories to a large degree. Remiss are the journeys and stories of African captives who left the African continent in-between the 15th and 19th centuries, more specifically from Goree Island off the coast of Dakar, Senegal in the late 18th century. Among the Island’s legacy are the “House of Slaves”, and the infamous door of “No Return” … the door through which millions of Africans left to become enslaved in the America’s. The genius, the beauty, the strength, and the offspring of many -those majestic descendants now grace the streets of Beijing.

One would be hard pressed and very confused after reading this expose’ regarding the lost children of the Dark Continent while trying to reconcile this account, and the reporting that most of the world receives regarding the off-spring of those children of the African Diaspora. “Culture Shock” is the opportunity to witness and to experience the rich, wonderful culture, and history of a much-maligned tribe of the global human family.

Showtime begins at 8P, tickets are 50RMB in advance. The Bookworm will provide their traditional food & beverage offerings while BLK GEN has commissioned the services of SUPER Photog Ezra to capture this memorable experience. Selected attendees & artist will have the opportunity to grace an Open Mic if time permits. To learn more about the upcoming “Culture Shock” experience, Or to be considered as a featured poet for this event, email us at Info@BLKGEN.com.
