Bob Wang, the US Senior Official for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) will give a presentation and lunch discussion on the recent developments in APEC. Mr. Wang will be in Beijing for the Third Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM 3) and Related Meetings, which will end on August 21. The Third Senior Official Meeting is the last meeting between the 21 senior officials before the concluding SOM meeting in November, during the APEC Summit week. Mr. Wang will present the outcomes of the recent SOM meetings between the 21 economies, as well as discuss the policy developments that the US government has been working with through the APEC year.

APEC is known as the premier Asia-Pacific economic forum, with the primary goal to support sustainable economic growth and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region. APEC champions free and open trade and investment, promotes and works to accelerate regional economic integration, encourage economic and technical cooperation, enhance human security, and facilitate a favorable and sustainable business environment.
 
The APEC summit will take place in Beijing this year in November, with leaders from the 21 economies meeting to discuss the year’s developments on November 10-11, shortly after the APEC CEO Summit on November 8-10.
