Summary

Duke University believes that the best possible study abroad experience offers students high caliber academics, a strong support system, and the chance to integrate intellectual inquiry into a mosaic of cultural and personal experiences. Studying abroad will change your life. This is true not only in terms of personal development, but in terms of your career. Many students have pursued new interests or made contacts overseas that have had unforeseen benefits later on. Whatever your future holds, the time you spend abroad will be an undeniable asset.

The DSIC semester program is a combined language and culture program, hosted at Yunnan Normal University in Kunming. It offers four credits for one semester of study. Two credits are for the intensive Chinese language courses, offered from levels 2 - 5. The other two credits are for area studies courses (both taught in English): a culture and history course, and a Directed Research Study course.

New in Fall 2012, students will have the opportunity to study China's economic growth and business environment with specialists at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), a top-ranking academic institution on finance and economics in China.

Duke Study in China also operates an eight-week summer program in Beijing, based at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE).
