During the recent 5 years, OEC continues optimizing resources and enhancing quality. In 2014, OEC designed and started freshmen’s Study Ability Assessment Exam, which aimed to help new students adapt to college study life as soon as possible. Every year OEC organizes internationalized professional teachers or lecturers to take part in national or international training programs. Six foreign students’ teachers successively obtained the title of “The Year’s Ten Best Popular Teachers of Jiangsu University”. Twenty-two university-level excellent courses had been established, eight of which were selected as provincial-level excellent courses.International Trade Affairs was selected as one of the brand courses of 2013 Ministry of Education’s English-taught courses for foreign students. OEC ranked excellently in Ministry of Education’s MBBS appreciation and inspection.
OEC pays attention to cultural inheritance and therefore organizes foreign students to take part in various activities in and outside university, trying to help foreign students understand Chinese culture and feel the happiness of study in China. The Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Race, Singing Talent Competition for Foreigners in Jiangsu Province, New Year’s Long-distance Running in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu University International Cultural Festival, Jiangsu University “Chinese Bridge” Competition etc., all these brand activities receive broad media attention every year. “Universal Hand-in-Hand Association” affiliated to OEC occasionally holds different activities or events which help foreign and Chinese students communicate and build up an internationalized atmosphere on campus.
Through hard endeavor, OEC has witnessed the achievements: two OEC students awarded “Jiangsu University Excellent Graduate” in 2014; two OEC PhD graduates awarded “Jiangsu University Excellent Dissertation” in 2014. Two OEC students got superior results in “Many Languages, One World” Writing Competition and went to a forum of United Nations and gave their speech.
We believe that through excellence of all aspects, we could make Jiangsu University an ideal and happy place for foreign students to study in China.
