Mandarin Training Center, a subsidiary of National Taiwan Normal University, was founded in the autumn of 1956 for teaching Chinese as a second language. Currently, MTC is the largest and the most renowned Chinese language center, with around 1,700 students from more than 70 countries enrolled each academic quarter(three months.)
MTC operates on a quarterly system. There are four terms in one year, and each term, lasting for three months, starts from March(Spring Term), June(Summer Term), September(Fall Term),and December(Winter Term). In addition, a 2-month summer session is offered from July to August.
For short-term study tours or 3-week express programs, visit our short-term study tour website. If the 3-month or 2-month classes do not fit your schedule, you may also choose MTC Online and learn Chinese anywhere during your spare time.
Classes are offered in various levels, from beginner's to advanced level. Students are placed in classes suited to their levels based on their placement test results. All classes are conducted in Chinese. Mandarin phonetic symbols and Pinyin spelling are used to indicate the pronunciation of characters. Reading, writing, speaking and listening comprehension are given equal emphasis in each class and student performance is evaluated accordingly.
