Summary

The Sinology Institute was founded in 2005 with the goal of bringing Mandarin Chinese to learners all around the world. As of 2012 more than 3,000 students have studied at the Sinology Institute. Among the students were Anne Rogge, the wife of IOC President Jacques Rogge, and Princess Laura of Belgium.

The Sinology Institute is located in the heart of Beijing just inside the Northern Second Ring Road. Its surroundings feature some of the most prominent sights in Beijing city, such as the Drum and Bell Towers, Houhai Lake and Nanluoguxiang. Most importantly, Beijing is the cradle of standard Mandarin Chinese - the official language of the People's Republic of China.

The Sinology Institute cooperates closely with the non-profit research and development body Datong Chinese to regularly improve its teaching method and curriculum. The goal is to make the learning of Mandarin Chinese more accessible for everyone regardless of their background, ethnicity, religion or gender.
