OVERALL POSITION OVERVIEW

The Research and Development Department intern will get the opportunity to increase knowledge in a plethora of areas that can be used in many different professional fields. The Research and Development Department is responsible for curriculum devleopment, business development, research, graphic design, educational product development, video production, magazine publication, and many other important tasks. The Research and Development Department intern will have a chance to learn in all of these areas.

Accountabilities

Project Support

·         Plan, allocate, and monitor individual time in order to complete assigned projects as well as complete department goals as set by the R&D Director and other team leaders.

·         Provide input on issues to consider in the development of R&D projects, including brainstorming and coordination support as delegated; independently coordinate assigned projects from conceptulatization through to production; proactively assist team members in preparing projects for R&D Director approval; and develop an understanding of the organization’s research activity.

·         Participate in the brainstorming and writing of KIDS Magazine; and research, contribute, and solicit regular articles for the magazine in order to promote the Etonkids brand.

·         Fulfill additional duties and responsibilities that are in line with the employment contract as instructed by the R&D Director.

Communication

·         Establish and maintain cogent working relationships with the departments other members.

·         Provide timely and regular updates to the R&D Director on the status of individual projects.

·         Keep up-to-date with developments in academic research in the field of early childhood education.

·         Promote the corporate image of the organization to all individuals, groups, and organizations both within the organization and to the community at large; and participate fully as a team member, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues in the organization to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of departmental objectives.

Service Support

·         Develop the role of the R&D Department within the organization, sharing good practice, setting standards, and operating processes where appropriate; attend and participate actively in regular department meetings and trainings; and maintain, update, and develop personal and professional knowledge and skills, using the Performance Review System.

Qualifications, Skills, Experience, and Competencies

Qualifications

•       Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree

•       Proficiency or willingness to learn video production for marketing and professional purposes

•       Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

•       Proficiency or willingness to learn Adobe Creative Suite

·         Ability to communicate effectively and knowledgeably both orally and in writing.
