About the Yale‐China Association:

The Yale‐China Association inspires Chinese and American people to learn and serve together. Founded in 1901 by graduates of Yale University, we foster long‐term relationships that improve education, health, and cultural understanding in China and the United States. The Yale‐China Association is a non‐profit organization registered in New Haven, CT and Hong Kong. Though closely affiliated with Yale University, Yale‐China is separately incorporated and administered.

Position Description:

Reporting to the Director of Education and the Senior Program Officer, Arts, the Program Officer is based in New Haven with travel to China and Hong Kong. The position supports the Education and Arts program fellowships and exchanges and is an excellent opportunity to learn the workings of a nonprofit organization.

Essential Duties:

1.      Assist with all aspects of the Teaching Fellowship program, including recruitment and selection, orientation and training, and the fall and spring teaching conferences;

2.      Assist with all aspects of the Arts Fellows Program in close cooperation with the Program Officer, Arts;

3.      Travel to China as needed;

4.      Proactively support the Chinese Teaching Fellowship by representing the Yale-China Association at related meetings and supporting the fellows;

5.      Support the administration and implement programming for other Education programs, including the exchange and internship programs.

6.      Support the Director of Education and Senior Program Officer, Arts with financial materials and documentation for grants, contracts, and institutional program budgets related to the education program.

LEVEL OF LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Education and Training:

Chinese language ability and strong familiarity with China preferred. Fellowship, internship and/or related work experience and a bachelor’s degree required.

Skills and Abilities:

§ Ability to handle multiple tasks, office procedures, demands and deadlines;

§ Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint;
