What are the different types of Chinese tea?
China has a very rich and vibrant tea-drinking culture! Some of the varieties include Green Tea (绿茶), Black Tea (红茶), Oolong Tea (乌龙茶), Pu’er Tea (普洱茶), White Tea, Yellow Tea, Jasmine Tea (茉莉花茶), Chrysanthemum Tea (菊花茶), Each tea has many varieties differing by region grown.
Some of the most interesting conversations I have had have been in tea shops, picking the brain of the shop owners about all the different kinds of teas, when is the best time to drink them, what they are used for in Chinese traditional medicine, and how to properly brew them!
I’m personally very partial to Pu’er, Jasmine, and Green tea. How about you?
