Application Now Open for Stanford FACES Conference!

The Application for the Stanford FACES Conference, a two-part international conference focused on dialogue between the next generation of U.S.-China leaders is now open!

Every year, FACES selects forty outstanding delegates from around the world to attend the FACES Conference. The conference takes place in two sessions, first at Stanford and then in China. FACES Delegates are required to attend both sessions.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Age 20-28 at the time of the conference.
  • Undergraduate Sophomore or above at the time of the conference
  • Demonstrate strong personal or academic interest in US-China relations
  • Speak a level of English adequate to participate in interactions and discussions at the conference

While most FACES delegates are U.S. or Chinese nationals, we welcome applicants from other countries to bring a diversity of perspectives. Please contact us if you have any question about eligibility.

Funding and Financial Aid

FACES subsidizes travel expenses and pays for all costs of food, accommodation, transportation during the conference. For details of our funding policy, please see our Guidelines on Funding and Financial Aid.

Delegate Selection Criteria

Delegates are selected for their potential to both benefit from and contribute to the conference. Delegates chosen also demonstrate potential to bring what they learn at the conference into the future careers they aspire to. With the expectation that delegate-­to-delegate interactions are the foundation of the FACES Conference, we also believe that applicants should demonstrate strong willingness to share ideas, experiences, and perspectives, as well as a strong capacity to develop as a member of the FACES community in the long-term.

The application process has two rounds. Applicants are first asked to fill in an application and submit their resume. Those selected for the second-­round interview will be notified by June 30. The final admissions result will be released before July 15.

Delegate Recruitment Timeline 

  • June 20, 2015      Online Application due
  • June 30, 2015      First­ round selection and Skype interview notification
  • July 15, 2015        Final notification
