On April 14-16, 2011, Project Pengyou attended the National Chinese Language Conference, a gathering of close to 1,200 language educators, to discuss how to prepare students for a global future.

At the opening ceremony, Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong spoke about the importance of Chinese language education in the United States and pledged 30,000 individual grants for Americans to study in China.
