Diplomacy through Dance: Americans Promoting Study Abroad (APSA) NY/Beijing Dance Initiative
Americans Promoting Study Abroad (APSA) is in it’s 3rd year of the APSA NY/Beijing Dance Initiative, a program that brings American High School students to China for a week-long exchange with students at the Beijing Dance Academy.
While in Beijing, the students study several types of traditional Chinese dances (including Tibetan and Classical Chinese dance) as well as collaborating with the students at the Beijing Dance Academy to create a showcase performance on April 10th, 2015. The American and Chinese students live in the same environment, attend the same classes and share a passion for dance that surpasses language barriers.
Check out some of the photo highlights of the 2015 APSA scholars in Beijing below:
APSA hopes that through this exchange, they will empower these students with confidence and a global perspective, allowing them to seek other international opportunities in the future. In the summer of 2014, a 2008 program alumnae returned to Beijing for an internship with the Beijing Dance Festival; evidence of the program’s success exposing students to international opportunities!
We’re happy to see Pengyous making connections through the Arts and Dance. Great work, APSA!
