Tsinghua University’s NexGen Global Forum is pleased to invite you to the first event of the Asian Women in Leadership Speaker Series. The series aims to address the gender gap in leadership in East Asia. Ms. Julie Broussard, Country Programme Manager for the UN Women China Office, will discuss women’s economic and political participation in China. Please see below for her biography. All are invited to join this important conversation.
Julie Broussard is the Country Programme Manager for the UN Women China Office. She has lived and worked in China for more than 15 years and speaks fluent Chinese. Ms. Broussard is the Chair of the UN Task Force on China’s first national domestic violence law. Furthermore, she is the Chair for the UN Theme Group on Gender, a forum which advocates gender equality in the work of the UN System and wider donor community.
At UN Women China, Ms. Broussard manages a great variety of programs in the areas of gender & corporate social responsibility, gender dimensions of climate change and natural disasters, eliminating gender-based violence, mitigating the effects of HIV/AIDS on women, gender-responsive governance, women’s economic participation and women’s leadership. Through the UN, she has worked closely with a variety of government institutions, including with several ministries as well as with the All China Women’s Federation in holding advocacy events and high-level visits.
