Bottom-Up Pollution Action in China | Wilson Center

Event Details

A conversation on the successes and challenges facing Chinese environmental NGO campaigns and citizen legal cases to halt river pollution, stop illegal wildlife consumption, and sue polluting industries.

The Chinese government’s war on pollution to combat smoggy cities and black water has resulted in both aggressive top-down regulation and bottom-up civic engagement. Grassroots groups and citizens are now taking more action in pollution monitoring, information transparency, and lawsuits. Join CEF on November 3, 2016 for a conversation on the successes and challenges facing Chinese environmental NGO campaigns and citizen legal cases to halt river pollution, stop illegal wildlife consumption, and sue polluting industries.
