Event Details
Achieving a sustainable society requires moving from an economy that tolerates environmental damage to one that does not. Dr. Steven Cohen will discuss the importance of environmental policy in achieving this goal and the need to manage short-term costs for long-term gains. Tracing the environmental movement over the past century, Dr. Cohen explores how the environment has emerged as a public policy issue and how current environmental policy reflects our values. He will discuss how environmental regulation influences the economy and demonstrate how the path to a clean economy requires public policy that balances environmental quality with economic growth.
