Event Details

The purpose of the series is to host a Global Shaper led initiative to explore themes related to G20, showcase China’s role on the international stage and foster a deeper understanding of G20 2016 issues from an international and multicultural perspective, in particular understanding the Chinese perspective. Specifically, we aim to highlight the voice of young professionals and the role they can play in shaping G20 2016 initiatives. We will share these insights with the Global Shapers community through online media – to help them understand G20 issues, the part each local hub can play and China’s view of the world.

This is the first G20 to be held in mainland China, and the theme for 2016 is “Towards an Innovative, Invigorated, Interconnected and Inclusive World Economy”. Specifically, G20 2016 aims to create a new driving force for the economy and participation from all stakeholders to stimulate greater dynamism for growth within the global community. For G20 2016 to be successful, the goals for growth aim to be better aligned for a more equitable result for all stakeholders.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution is characterized by new technologies that are quickly and radically impacting methods of production in all disciplines, economies and industries. In this panel, we will explore the future of employment, examining the general impact of new technologies on the labor structure of society and related social consequences. We will also investigate the restructuring of our education system and potential retraining of professionals to meet future employment demands. Finally, we will discuss strategies for young professionals’ careers in the face of a new era of productivity.

David Aikman is the Chief Representative of Greater China for the World Economic Forum.

Chen Zhiwu is Professor of Finance at Yale University. His expertise areas include finance theory, securities valuation, emerging markets, and China’s economy and capital markets.

Jesse Lu is CEO and co-founder of Raven Tech, a startup focused on artificial intelligence, big data and the next generation operating system. He was nominated as one of Forbes ’30 Under 30 Entrepreneurs’ in 2015.

Qifeng Zhu (tentative) is Founder & Chairman of Arivoc Education International, and former Senior Research Scientist at UC Berkeley’s International Computer Science Institute (ICSI).
