Grinnell College’s ‘Scarlet & Black’ News Org says “It’s the year of the Pengyou”

Our new Grinnell College Project Pengyou Leadership Fellows were recently given a voice in their school news organization, the Scarlet & Black. Fellows Sophie Wright, Cody Combs, and Jordan Meyers shared their enthusiasm and excitement for kicking off the Grinnell Chapter. They also tipped their hat to inaugural Fellow, Meg Rudy, who laid the vital groundwork for establishing a chapter and to whom they credit their speed and momentum.

All of these Fellows were chosen for their extensive experience in China and their capacity for Leadership, and we are overjoyed that they were allowed to share their knowledge and experience at their school, where it has obviously made a difference. Cody states:

“Every time I’ve been there, it hits home the importance of establishing this relationship with the Chinese people,…I believe it’s important to reinforce the fact that both Americans and Chinese are part of a larger global community.”

According to the interview, the amount of Grinnell students planning to study abroad in China has more than doubled since last year. Where before, an average of three students would study in China, there are now about 8 students planning to study in China!!

Awesome work Grinnell Fellows! We’re excited to see your goals supported and your accomplishments recognized by your university!
