Founded in 1943 and a Johns Hopkins division since 1950, The Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins (SAIS) has been educating global leaders for more than 70 years. As a highly selective graduate institution with a distinguished faculty, SAIS consistently ranks as one of the top schools of international relations in the world. SAIS was founded to provide a practical approach to training students in international leadership and foreign relations, and to provide mid-career educational opportunities for those already working in related fields. Today, SAIS offers the MA, MIPP, MAIA, MAIS, MIEF, GPP, and Ph.D. degrees and enrolls 640 full-time students in Washington, D.C., primarily in the school’s two-year Master of Arts program. Nearly 40 percent of the students are non-citizens coming from more than 70 countries. Position Overview
The Program Intern will be responsible for providing broad administrative support to the Asia Programs Director, Associate Director, faculty, and staff. This position will provide essential assistance in a start-up environment as Program leadership builds and launches the new Asia Programs. Responsibilities will include support to those building student relations, alumni relations, communications and development initiatives, a stakeholder database, and curricula.
Please note: This position falls under casual status and the incumbent(s) will work up to 20 hours per week maximum.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative (90%):
Provide office support to the Asia Programs Associate Director, staff, and faculty
Update and maintain Programs’ database of faculty, staff, students, stakeholders, and visitors
Under supervision, review the Programs’ webpages for typos, grammatical errors, dead links and outdated information
Conduct foundation, corporate and individual research to inform Asia Programs’ development efforts
Other duties as assigned
Meetings & Events (10%):
Assist staff with planning and scheduling events for AY 2017-2018
Draft event announcements and invitations

Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED required. Two years of college coursework or equivalent additional work experience preferred. Some related experience in an administrative/office setting required. Experience working with various software applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred. Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills. A professional manner, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and in a team. Ability to prioritize while handling multiple tasks under pressure and within deadlines.
