Job Description
The role:
APCO Worldwide is looking for an Associate Consultant to join our Beijing office. The Associate Consultant is responsible for independently leading client work and appropriately delegating tasks to his/her team members. They will work under the supervision of a Director and interfaces with all levels of staff and clients by taking the following primary responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day client communication and management by providing strategic advice on a full suite of public affairs tasks by analysing policy and issue monitoring results, providing strategic advice on government affairs strategy, and conducting stakeholder engagement under minimal supervision of senior managers
- Produce high-quality client deliverables (i.e. policy analysis, stakeholder engagement strategy, executive briefing materials, etc.)
- Contribute actively in internal and client meetings by offering knowledgeable and practical suggestions
- Support senior managers to develop new business by preparing credentials and proposals
- Maintain self-driven passion and actively develop knowledge of client issues and related industry trends, maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, participate in industry networking events and inform team leaders on potential new business opportunities
Qualifications & Standards:
- Degree educated or equivalent
- Ideally, a minimum of 3 – 5 years relevant experience working in a government organisation, consulting firm, corporation, academic institution or a diplomatic posting
- A keen interest in politics and current affairs. An understanding of the ICT industry a plus
- Fluent Mandarin speaker
- Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to write strategically in English
- Solid project management experience and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Collaborative team player that also has the ability to work independently, take initiative and set priorities
