Job Summary:
The Internship Program at the EastWest Institute provides talented students and recent graduates with a three- month (or longer) unpaid training opportunity designed to encourage professional and personal development. As a think and do tank, we encourage out-of-the-box thinking and value fresh perspectives.
As part of the on the job training process interns will work closely with their supervisor on the organization of major convenings, research projects, administrative and logistical support, and other necessary tasks specific to their respective department. Additionally, interns will add to their skill sets by attending informal and formal learning sessions.

The Asia-Pacific program is seeking an intern to be involved in its programmatic work in the fall. The intern will be exposed to various aspects of the organization process for U.S.-China high-level dialogues.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Logistical and administrative tasks for major U.S.-China dialogues (focused on key security and/or military issues) and other smaller discussions and meetings;
· Compilation of briefing materials and research assistance on topics in international affairs related to the U.S. relationships with China, Japan/East Asia/Asia-Pacific, Russia, Afghanistan and Iran;
· Administrative tasks related to general STBI operations;
· Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Student enrolled in a relevant graduate or undergraduate degree program or a recent graduate (if you are planning to continue your education within the next six months);
· Background and interest in international relations or security studies desirable;
· Good writing ability;
· Fluency in English a must. Proficiency in other languages is an advantage, especially Chinese and Japanese.
· The ability and drive to perform in a fast-paced international environment;
· PC literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); Internet-research savvy;
· Team player, highly motivated, flexible, and able to efficiently handle multiple tasks.
