The American Chamber of Commerce in the People’s Republic of China is a non-profit, non-governmental organization whose membership comprises more than 3,800 individuals from over 1,000 companies operating across China. The chamber’s nationwide mission is to help American companies succeed in China through advocacy, information, networking and business support services. AmCham China is the only officially recognized chamber of commerce representing American business in mainland China. With offices in Beijing, Tianjin, Dalian, Shenyang and Wuhan, AmCham China has more than 60 working groups, and holds more than 300 events each year.
Job Description
AmCham China is looking for fall interns to support our departments. Chinese and expatriate students are encouraged to apply. Only students who will be enrolled in school during the internship period are eligible. We are looking for interns to start in August/September and can commit to at least a three-month internship. Applications must contain a cover letter detailing candidate’s interest and qualifications and resume in English; those applying for the magazine internship must include a writing sample as well. Please include the following: available dates and preference for full time or part time; current location; and citizenship and visa status with regards to China (i.e. Chinese, expat in Beijing on an X visa). Business Center Intern
* Research and write reports as well as develop content for Business Center website
*Update industry information
*Support Communications Department staff on projects as needed
*Strong interest in business preferred
Communications Intern (Digital and PR)
*Develop, proofread, and format content for AmCham China’s website
*Assist with AmCham China announcements and events
*Assist with multimedia resources (podcasts, photos and possible video)
*Help coordinate social networking sites
Communications Intern (Magazine)
*Pitch and develop articles
*Transcribe and fact-check interviews
*Write summaries of chamber events
*Copyedit and proofread magazine
Government Affairs Intern
*Support the process of drafting and editing the AmCham China’s annual White Paper
*Support data collection and analysis for the annual Business Climate Survey
*Draft additional policy memos, and conduct ad-hoc research relevant to foreign business in China
*Help coordinate events on an ad-hoc basis at AmCham China
Membership Intern
*Support Membership Director and support to specific projects
*Assist Business Development Manager and support the daily sales operation
*Work with Account Manager and support the membership renewing and recruiting process
*Conduct analytical work for Membership Director to enhance targeting on new member recruiting
Operations and Events Intern
*Attend events and write short reports to be published in weekly e-newsletter and monthly magazine
*Support signature events such as forum conferences
*Support AmCham-China initiatives in small business, trade and investment
*Support Operations Department staff on projects as needed
