The Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI) is Stanford University’s primary center for innovative research on major international issues and challenges. In spring of 2012, the Institute opened a Beijing center in a newly constructed building on the Peking University campus, the Stanford Center at Peking University (SCPKU), to serve as Stanford’s Bridge Across the Pacific. It serves as a platform for Stanford’s wide array of programs and researchers working in China—a home away from home.
We are seeking an experienced Program Development Manager to be responsible for identifying, developing, supporting and facilitating the implementation of Stanford programs and activities at the Stanford Center at Peking University and SCPKU programs that may take place on the Stanford campus. The main goals are to encourage and facilitate a flow of faculty and students across Stanford’s Bridge Across the Pacific to create a dynamic and vibrant intellectual community at the Beijing campus and between SCPKU and the home campus. The SCPKU Program Development Manager works closely with SCPKU staff in Beijing and China Program staff on Stanford campus.

Work under the direction of faculty or other management to implement and administer the vision, strategy, and goals of the assigned academic entity/program(s) utilizing specialized/technical knowledge. Administer, support, and manage programs or functions under general supervision.
- Independently implement, administer and evaluate day-to-day activities of the unit, function or program by identifying and executing tasks and objectives, making recommendations that impact policies and programs, and assigning resources to achieve the goals of the program.
- Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends to determine program effectiveness; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program or function.
- Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise and implement procedures for program or function.
- Write and edit content for program activities under the general direction of faculty, including newsletter and website content. Assist with program development (i.e., may suggest new funding opportunities, write portions of grants, and/or summarize data for grant support).
- Represent the program or function as the key contact and subject matter expert within the department, unit or school and develop communications for internal and external constituencies. Commit resources and provide information and/or training. May also represent the program or function to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.
- Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that may include developing communications and training, partnerships, fundraising, planning/promoting events and/or conferences.
- Develop budgets, monitor expenses, and finances of program. Perform limited forecasting and make recommendations on funding based on program spend.
- May direct staff to perform various tasks and assignments. May also supervise staff.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education, and relevant experience. Advanced degree may be required for some programs. Program administration and or research experience may be required.

- Working proficiency in Mandarin preferred.

- Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.
