A Teach For China Program Manager’s primary responsibility is to lead the Teaching Fellows leadership development in line with the situation of local communities, the organization, and the personal/professional development goals of Fellows.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead Teaching Fellow leadership development in line with the situation of local communities, the organization, and the personal/professional development goals of Fellows.
  • Lead and manage Fellows to realize student, community and personal/professional goals, including: managing fellows based on the local contexts in order to promote a relationship of mutual trust between principals, teachers, families, and education authorities.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to develop Teaching Fellows’ teaching skills.
  • Develop Fellows independent reflection and problem-solving skills.
  • Develop Fellows ability to take the initiative to find sources of support including teammates, local teachers, and members of other teams.
  • Using the points above, guide Fellows to creatively promote student development in a way that has a deep, lasting and significant impact.
  • Help fellows to find connections between their work in their communities and their personal long-term development goals so that Fellows have a life-long investment in Teach For China’s vision and mission.
  • Build and maintain relationships with partner schools including understanding the school’s situation and expectations, fostering cooperation between Fellows and placement schools, and ensuring schools have solid understanding of TFC.
  • Provide limited logistics support including explaining policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the first contact for Fellows in the case of safety or other serious situations.
  • Assist with Summer Institute, career development, and teaching-skills specific trainings.
  • Provide support to other departments to help execute visits by donors, media members, or others.

  • Have a deep sense of responsibility towards Fellow’ impact and personal/professional development
  • Have excellent team management, collaboration, and strategic-thinking skills
  • Goal-oriented
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Develop familiarity with local communities
  • Have a strong sense of affiliation with Teach For China
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of two years of work experience
  • Proficiency or background in English and Chinese (Mandarin)
