The Sr. Academic Program Coordinator supports the Kissinger Center’s mission to advance and develop curricula, research, and programs in historically-informed strategy and statecraft. The program coordinator plans, develops, and staffs center programs and events, supports multi-year research projects and publications, and manages the center’s communications, including social media, website, and a biannual newsletter. The program coordinator reports to the associate director.

Job Description

Responsibilities
 

  • Events:  in consultation with the associate director, plan and organize conferences, lectures, workshops, and seminars associated with all center programs, including the annual Kissinger Lecture, Research Workshop, Future Strategy Forum, Nuclear Studies Research Initiative, International Policy Scholars Consortium, and other initiatives.

 

  • Partnerships:  coordinate with partners on joint projects, both within the SAIS/Johns Hopkins community and among external constituencies, identify and cultivate new partners, and draft correspondence, reports, and other documents for center donors.

 

  • Research and Fellowships:  administer multi-year research grants, publication series, and center-sponsored fellowships, grants, and prizes for SAIS or Johns Hopkins students.

 

  • Curriculum:  conduct basic research on curriculum in history, political science, public policy, and international affairs, and assist students enrolled in center courses.

 

  • Communications:  maintain and improve the center’s digital presence, including updating and expanding the website, preparing a semi-annual newsletter, and engaging students and external stakeholders on social media platforms. Prepare center faculty and leadership for presentations, meetings, or other public events. 

 

  • Administrative Support:  support the center’s administrative needs, as required.

 

Qualifications

 

Individual must possess a demonstrated ability to operate within both academic and policy environments, including familiarity with universities, graduate training, and scholarly research in international affairs. Demonstrated ability to handle concurrent projects, meet deadlines, and work independently with moderate supervision. Excellent writing, research, and communication skills, and discretion and confidentiality in business dealings. Experience in event planning and/or website management and social media preferred.

 

High School diploma/GED require. Five years of related experience required. MA in a related field (history, international relations, or security studies) and 3-5 years professional experience preferred. Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
