We are a non-profit based in Austin, Texas looking to diversify our programs. This position will assist in the expansion of our agency, and we are looking for a person who has big ideas, is motivated to start new projects, and is enthusiastic and ready to take on any challenge that may arise. The Program Coordinator for the Student Exchange will assist in the management of all program logistics, development of the programs, and host family recruitment.
Key Responsibilities and accountability:
- Assist the Director in developing student exchange programs.
- Communicate and work with our overseas partners.
- Follow soft leads to acquire host families for students.
- Prepare and update student exchange literature and materials and manage website content.
- Contact local high schools, ensuring they can accept exchange students, and obtaining all necessary forms and approvals from the schools to start an exchange student partnership program.
- Carry agency exchange student emergency phone 24/7 so host families or exchange students are able to get in touch with our agency at any time.
- Meet and welcome the exchange students at the airport.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Business, International Relations, International Development, Higher Education Administration or related field.
- Passion for helping students and a genuine enthusiasm for international education and cultural exchange.
- Comfortable outreach to local high schools or potential host families via phone.
- Must be a self-starter, able to think creatively, and able to work through tasks with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of International education.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to use MS Suite, databases, as well as adapt to new computer programs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, efficient and extremely detailed orientated.
- Demonstrated leadership, management and communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of database management systems and reporting tools.
- At least 2 years of experience in any combination of the following areas:
Event Planning experience; Working with foreign governments and/or with the U.S. government; Working for or directly with an independent education or work-experience abroad organization; Working for a study abroad/ student exchange agency; Development or management of international programs; Business negotiations/development and contract-writing; Using the SEVIS system.
Preferred Qualifications but Not Required
- Fluency in a foreign language.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficiency maintaining WordPress sites
- Social Media and blog management
- Professional Marketing experience
