Leadership Fellows in the News: Project Pengyou Raises Sino-U.S. Relations Awareness
Annabel Virella, part of the original cohort of Project Pengyou Leadership Fellows, has helped to build a strong chapter at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Although she has graduated from ERAU, there is still a committed team of Pengyous who are working hard to promote study in China, including Chapter President Garrett Werner, VP Sean Yeoh, Treasurer Landeau McDade, Secretary Cameron McCauley, and Ambassador Nicholas Reinders.
Dr. Hong Zhan, the Chapter’s faculty advisor, spoke to ERAU news.com:
“I hope the club encourages more students to study abroad and do community service,”
In fact, the ERAU team has had several successful events including selling bubble tea and sharing Chinese culture on campus during a “taste of Wangfujing” style Pengyou Day. The Eagle Chapter also teamed up with the ERAU Lions Club for a carwash to raise funds for future service projects.
They also have great ideas for tailoring their chapter activities to fit the needs of ERAU students. Because ERAU is a school that specializes in Aerospace, the Pengyou team has been focusing on providing more information relative to Security Programs and about international aerospace relations between China and the US.
We are proud to see their efforts being praised by their school media organization and looking forward to seeing what you’ll come up with in the future! Jiayou ERAU Pengyous!
