Project Pengyou Chapters in the News: Luther College Encourages Diversity in Iowa
After returning to Luther College from the Leadership Training Summit last fall, Project Pengyou Leadership Fellow Sam Kaplan went to work building a Project Pengyou Chapter and has been making headway for more inclusiveness and diversity on campus.
In a matter of months, the Chapter has garnered support from peers and faculty and has hosted gatherings and events. The Chapter also held a successful Pengyou Day complete with an on campus tabling campaign to raise awareness of Chinese culture on campus and even served Chinese food in the cafeterias! Recently, their efforts were recognized by their student media platform, the Luther Chips, who applauds their work to bring diversity and inclusiveness to Decorah. Chapter member, Alvin Kim noted:
“Through the creation of intercultural bridges between China and the U.S., we can erase the divisions that we see between China and America…”
Great work Pengyous at Luther! We are proud of all you’ve accomplished so far and we look forward to what you will achieve in the future!
