Pengyou Day was a night of “Dumplings and Diplomacy” at the Project Pengyou UMD Chapter!
After a highly successful Pengyou Day event which included a tour of New York’s Chinatown as well as a night of Karaoke, the team was interviewed by their school news organization, NYU’s Washington Square News, a student-run news organization, who lauded them for their efforts.
Held on a Thursday during the State Department’s International Education Week, our inaugural Pengyou Day was a rousing success. With the help of our nationwide Project Pengyou chapter teams as well as our signature partners, Asia Society and the Committee of 100, we celebrated building friendships between Americans and Chinese while trying to deepen engagement and mutual understanding through the launch of simultaneous events across the country!
Our Leadership Fellows, Christina Lu and Will Jockers from the State University at New York, Geneseo are quite the dynamic duo, and they recently captured the attention of their local news organization, the Lamron, for an interview about their Chapter-building efforts at SUNY Geneseo.
Texas is an area where study abroad, especially to China, is considered underrepresented. Our Project Pengyou Leadership Fellows, Leslie Martinez and Jorge Dimas, are working to change that at their home university, Texas A&M International University (TAMIU).
