Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia.

The Freeman-ASIA program is designed to support U.S.- based undergraduates with demonstrated financial need who are planning to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia. The program’s goal is to increase the number of U.S. citizens and permanent residents with first-hand exposure to and understanding of Asia and its people and cultures. 

Freeman-ASIA accepts applications from U.S. citizens or permanent residents studying at the undergraduate level at a two-year or four-year college or university who demonstrate financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia. 

The Summer 2018 and Fall/Academic Year 2018-19 applications are now open. 

Summer 2018 Deadlines:

Student Deadline: March 14, 2018
Adviser Deadline: March 21, 2018

Fall/Academic Year 2018-19 Deadlines:

Student Deadline: April 11, 2018
Adviser Deadline: April 18, 2018
