Attention American students in Beijing: we have an exciting opportunity to share with you!

Global Student Initiative’s Leadership Exchange Program is accepting applications until January 31st. The program is student run, and is a special opportunity for you to get internship credit, gain leadership skills and take ownership of your study abroad experience! The program is truly a cultural exchange; American and Chinese students work together to design a study abroad program for each other, and then they get to participate!

What You’ll Do

Leadership Training

Develop practical experience leading a team, designing cultural activities, inviting guest lecturers, planning company visits, and coordinating between different academic departments.

Cross-cultural Collaboration

Work closely with Chinese and American students to create a 2-part exchange program in China and the United States. Learn how to effectively communicate and work professionally with students from different cultural backgrounds.

Cultural Immersion/Networking

Spend 14 days with both Chinese and American students in both Beijing and Boulder in the summer. Participate in interactive activities and constantly discuss and debate with each other about different perspectives and viewpoints. Develop close bonds and working partnerships with people from across the globe.

  • Application Deadline: January 31, 2016
  • Skype Interviews: Week of February 1-7, 2016
  • Planning Process: March-May 2016
  • Summer Exchange Program:
    July 17-23, 2016 (China)
    July 31-August 6, 2016 (United States)

 

Eligibility

  • Current student that is studying in an academic institute in Beijing
  • Chinese and American students are eligible to apply
  • Need to be physically present in Beijing during the 2015-2016 academic year
  • Interested in cross-cultural communication and leadership

**no requirements for area of study, major, nationality, GPA, or previous cross-cultural
experience


Program Cost

Accepted delegates are responsible for a RMB 5000 program fee, which will cover all of their in-country expenses (food, transportation, housing, and activity fees) in both China and the United States during the 14 day summer exchange.

About GSI:

The US-China Leadership Program is an innovative exchange program that allows a team of CU students and a team of Chinese students to work closely together to design a 14-day exchange program for each other. Students will take turns visiting each other’s native countries and participate in a variety of academic lectures, company visits, cultural tours, and sightseeing over the summer.
