Apply to PIM’s International Philanthropy Program: Model Foundation
Theme: Catalyzing Youth Development in China
Have you ever wondered how you can be more effective in creating social impact?
Do you want to contribute your ideas and skills (whether it be marketing, social media, technology, finance, writing, or project management) to NGOs through professional internships?
Are you interested in exploring careers in foundation work, impact investing, corporate social responsibility, non-profit or social entrepreneurship?
Then take the first step toward becoming a philanthropist by applying to PIM’s 2014 Model Foundation, an international philanthropy program for university students and recent graduates who are interested in practicing effective giving to advance China’s civil society.
This summer, Philanthropy in Motion (PIM) is partnering with The University of Hong Kong to launch Model Foundation. Model Foundation brings together university students to engage in intelligent charitable giving through directly experiencing the grant-making process of a foundation. Acting as Grant Committee Officers, students will learn how to evaluate China-based non-governmental organizations (NGOs) focusing on youth development initiatives and make strategic decisions on how to distribute a PIM fund of 20,000 USD to organizations that they deem to be innovative and impactful. In addition, students will engage with speakers such as Elizabeth Knup (Ford Foundation’s Chief Representative to China), Brenda Lee (Former Vice President at Coca-Cola China and foundation founder), Professor Cecilia Chan (Head of Department of Social Work and Social Administration at HKU), and more. While contributing their time, resources, and ideas to NGOs, students will further their personal and professional development through subsequent internships and service projects.
