Event Details
Memphis Public Library’s largest author festival, #BOOKSTOCK2017, will return again for another year of carnival-style fun for the whole family. This year’s event will feature four keynote authors, along with more than 40 local authors. One of the keynote authors will be Adrienne Berard, author of Water Tossing Boulders, a book about a Chinese family’s fight to desegregate schools in the Jim Crow South a generation before Brown vs. Board of Education. Her book talk and signing will be from 2-3pm, and will include a performance by the Chinese Choir of Memphis. A Qipao Fashion Show will take place before her talk at 1pm. Following her talk, there will be a panel discussion on her book moderated by Memphis civil rights scholar Miriam DeCosta-Willas. In addition to book presentations, attendees will enjoy live music, food trucks, cooking demonstrations, door prizes, face painting, storytimes, arts and crafts for kids, CLOUD901 adventures for teens, a book-character fashion show, a scavenger hunt around Central Library and much more.
