Event Details
YCW Beijing is pleased to welcome Dr. Lance Noble, Manager for Policy and Communications at The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China. Dr. Noble will present the findings of a major new study on the China Manufacturing 2025 (CM2025) industrial policy initiative.Titled China Manufacturing 2025: Putting Industrial Policy Ahead of Market Forces, the study provides a detailed examination of the focus and goals of the initiative for upgrading China’s industrial base and moving to the forefront in ten industries, including semiconductors, robotics and New Energy Vehicles. Policy tools that the authorities are utilising in pursuit of these goals, such as subsidies, state-backed global acquisitions, mergers of State Owned Enterprises and restrictions on market access for foreign business, will also be outlined. In doing so, the study evaluates the initiative’s ramifications for European business, both in China, Europe and third-country markets. Recommendations for adjusting and responding to the initiative will be outlined for the Chinese Government, European Union authorities and Member States’ governments, as well as European business. The reception that the report has received from Chinese officials will also be outlined.
