Henry Bismuth will illustrate the honored heritage of China’s Silk Road and its continuing impact today in their contemporary “One Belt, One Road” initiative. Bismuth will speak of the linkage it provides countries and cultures as witnessed in the diverse paintings in his series, “The Alchemy of Images.” By sharing his unique cultural construct – that of taking ancient sculptural artifacts and reinterpreting and reinvigorating them in and with his today – he will show how and why art in and of itself is a universal language and a tool of cross-cultural communication beyond socio-demographic borders.
Bismuth moved to New York from Paris in 2010. Widely exhibited in Europe and in Asia, his work has been shown in over 40 museums in the United States. The initial painting in “The Alchemy of Images” series was exhibited at Art Basel Week Miami 2010. Under development since, the gala opening and exhibition will be this November, 2016 in Paris.
