Event Details
In celebration of The Roof of the World Festival, a summer folk music and dance gathering in Tajikistan, we will create instruments inspired by those played in Central Asia for generations.
In celebration of The Roof of the World Festival, a summer folk music and dance gathering in Tajikistan, we will create instruments inspired by those played in Central Asia for generations. Activities include the oud with origins in the Near East and played along the Silk Road, a frame drum called a doira, and a wind instrument similar to those played in Persian and Turkic cultures.
Schedule
1:00 and 2:00 pm | Storytelling session from Tales Told in Tents: Stories from Central Asia
1:00 – 3:00 pm | Art Creation (Doira, oud, wind instrument)
