Orchid Pavilion Salon
China Institute Gallery cordially invites you to our 3rd Annual Orchid Pavilion Gathering.
This year’s theme is现代样板戏, or the eight Model Revolutionary Operas. These operas were created during the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) to entertain workers, peasant and soldiers. We will be screening clips from these operas, and special guest Ms. Qi Shufang 齐淑芳, a master of opera, will perform a short section of智取威虎山 [Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy]. Ms. Qi played the major role, “Xiao Changbao”小常宝.
