Event Details
Young China Watchers Berlin is delighted to invite you to the kick-off after the summer recess with Angela Köckritz. Angela is a journalist with the German weekly “DIE ZEIT” and former Beijing correspondent. She will provide the audience with an opportunity to discuss and hear from her recently published and acclaimed book “Wolkenläufer” (cloud walkers) on dreams, wishes and motivations of ordinary (and not so ordinary) Chinese people.
Her reports give us intimate access and unusual perspectives on the lives of individuals and their passions – from concubines, daydreamers, architects, to fortune tellers and civil rights activists. Angela will also share current insights about the difficult and changing conditions of working as a journalist in China.
Angela Köckritz studied political science, sinology and art history in Munich and Taiwan. She has worked for “Süddeutsche Zeitung” and “DIE ZEIT”. Since 2011 she was Beijing correspondent of “DIE ZEIT”. In early 2015, freshly back from China, she was awarded with the “MERICS China Media Award” for her exceptional and differentiated China reporting.
