Event Details

Young China Watchers San Francisco is delighted to invite you to a round table discussion on U.S.-China climate change leadership and the recent Paris climate change agreements. Craig Hart, one of America’s foremost climate scholars based out of China, will lead an invigorating discussion over drinks at Salesforce.com in downtown San Francisco.

Professor Hart will speak for approximately 15-20 minutes, followed by 20-30 minutes of interactive discussion and Q&A over drinks.

Craig A. Hart is Associate Professor at the School of Environment and Natural Resources, Renmin University of China, and Lecturer at Johns Hopkins University’s Energy Policy & Climate program.  Dr. Hart teaches courses on carbon management, energy policy and renewable energy technology.

Dr. Hart’s research concentrates on the intersection of carbon management, competitiveness and economic development, and law and policy.  His research interests and recent work include energy efficiency, biomass, forest carbon sequestration, and carbon capture and storage technologies, with particular focus on China and developing countries in Asia.

In addition to his academic research, Dr. Hart is an attorney practicing in the fields of energy law, carbon management and capital markets.  He has represented project developers, lenders, and investors in energy and infrastructure project finance, carbon finance, and private and public offerings of debt and equity.  He has substantial experience in clean and conventional energy infrastructure projects in Asia and the Middle East, including under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).  He previously was associated with a leading international law firm in Saudi Arabia and New York, acted as legal counsel to the Asian Development Bank’s Future Carbon Fund (which invests in post-2012 carbon credits under the CDM) and served as the Climate Law Fellow at the Center for International Environmental Law in Washington, D.C.
