China’s latest policies on Green Card issuance and alien residence and employment look to attract highly-educated Chinese graduates of overseas schools to live and work in China in hopes that they will contribute to China’s economic development. The policies are expected to play an important role in the future plans and careers of Chinese students now studying abroad. The Center for China & Globalization (CCG), through its collaboration with various government departments on the research, development and refinement of the new policies, has gained a deeper and more accurate understanding of the policies.

In January of 2016, China’s Ministry of Public Security launched 20 new immigration policy guidelines aimed at its attracting more highly-qualified foreigners to live and work in Beijing. In February, the CPC Central Committee and State Council issued a document entitled Views on Strengthening the Management of Alien Permanent Residence Service. China’s latest policies on Green Card issuance and alien residence and employment look to attract highly-educated Chinese graduates of overseas schools to live and work in China in hopes that they will contribute to China’s economic development. The policies are expected to play an important role in the future plans and careers of Chinese students now studying abroad. The Center for China & Globalization (CCG), through its collaboration with various government departments on the research, development and refinement of the new policies, has gained a deeper and more accurate understanding of the policies.
Dr. Huiyao Wang is the founding President of the Center for China & Globalization (CCG), a leading Chinese think tank specializing in globalization strategies, specifically in the globalization of enterprises and of the Chinese workforce. Previously he worked for China’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. He pursued graduate studies at the University of Windsor, the University of Western Ontario and the University of Manchester,where he obtained his MBA and a PhD degree in international management.
Dr. Wang was a Senior Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School, a Visiting Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and an Adjunct Professor at Guanghua Management School of Peking University. He has published over 40 English and Chinese books and more than 100 articles and papers on business and workforce globalization.
