Eric Fish is a writer with Asia Society focusing on Chinese youth, politics, education, and social issues. He is the former host of the China Hang-up podcast, and is also the author of the book China’s Millennials: The Want Generation and founder of the blog Sinostand. From 2007 to 2014, he was based in China where he worked for the Economic Observer and contributed to The Atlantic, Foreign Policy, and The Diplomat, among others.
Karoline Kan is a post-’85 Chinese youth. She works as a researcher at Radio France International as well as various freelance writing, and before that she was with That’s Beijing as a staff writer. Karoline Kan was born and grew up in Tianjin, before attending university in Beijing.
Alec Ash is a writer and journalist who works as a correspondent for the Los Angeles Review of Books. His articles have been published in The Economist, Dissent, Prospect, The Spectator, BBC and elsewhere. He also runs a writers blog, the Anthill. He first came to live in Beijing in 2008, and during his studies he wrote a blog about Chinese youth. He studied English literature at Oxford, and ran literary interviews at Five Books.

Sino-American Talks (中美说) is dedicated to improving the relationship between Chinese and American society. Americans need a greater understanding of the Chinese perspective on Sino-American issues, and Chinese need a greater understanding of the American perspective. Our aim is to strengthen mutual understanding and respect, and to reduce false assumptions. We host live events in Beijing, featuring speakers from both China and the USA, focusing on a wide range of topics that relate to the two countries and their relationship. We also video tape these events and share them online. If you are interested in what we are doing, please get in touch.
