A plutocracy progressively projects its own internal disintegration upon the whole world”, or so argues Pepe Escobar, roving correspondent for the ASIA TIMES and numerous other global non-mainstream media outlets, in the introduction of his latest book, “The Empire of Chaos”.  This collection of his articles written from 2009-2014 depicts the latest developments of global (dis)order as a Washington’s attempt to prevent a full economic integration of Eurasia that would leave the U.S. as a non-hegemon, or worse still, an outsider. Thus the three-pronged strategy of “pivoting to Asia” (containment of China); Ukraine (containment of Russia); and beefing up NATO (subjugation of Europe, and NATO as Global Robocop). It’s “The Empire of Chaos”, or the last resort of American exceptionalism.
