The iconic portrait of Mao Ze Dong is present in the minds of billions of people. My mind as well as yours, but looking back just a hundred years The Tiananmen Gate did not possess an own identity. Through Beijing Postcards own collection of historical photographs and extensive research, the history of Tiananmen gate is pieced together. The pictures collected cover a time span from around year 1900 up till early 1980s.
