Crowne Plaza Beijing Sun Palace will present the seventh “Yunnan Culture Festival” from 29 to 31 May 2015. During the festival, not only guests will be able to join the water splashing celebration of the traditional New Year of Dai ethnic minority in Xishuangbanna with singings and dances, but also they can feast on the splendid buffet of Xishuangbanna barbeque, Yunnan snacks, juices and rice wine, while looking for the favorite handcraft in the Yunnan bazaar.

Water Splashing Festival, also known as the “Festival for Bathing Budda” is the equivalent of New Year celebration to the Dai ethnic minority. This celebration includes light-hearted religious rituals that end in merrymaking where everyone ends up getting splashed with water, a symbol of religious purity and goodwill. Every year this Water Festival is celebrated at Crowne Plaza Beijing Sun Palace in April (same time as Xishuangbanna) or May (when April is too cold) where colourful Yunnan costumes and décor creates the celebratory atmosphere. Cultural dances will be staged and authentic Yunnan cuisines will be specially prepared.
