Based in Hangzhou or Ningbo, the Consultant will not only counsel Chinese high school students as they prepare to study abroad but also engage in business development from marketing events and direct sales to entrepreneurial project cultivation. The Consultant may have the opportunity to join a multicultural Management team and contribute to long-‐term business development strategies. We are not a traditional educational consulting company! Our Consultants have sponsored art exhibitions, been on TV as our very own “V.O.I.C.E.” English speech judge, and led self-discovery trips to Western China — all in their first year. Bring your passions to our talented and dedicated team of educators and entrepreneurs!

1.     Mentoring Chinese students before, during, and after their college applications process through various capacity-building projects such as school selection, seminar discussion, essay coaching, extracurricular development and interview training.

2.     Capitalizing on their own expertise to design and teach new soft skills curricula.

3.     Cooperating with fellow Consultants’ work with certain students, and undertaking quality assurance throughout project execution.

4.     Innovating new projects to bring our students further opportunities for growth.

What are we looking for?

  • Graduated from a top US liberal arts or national university
  • Strong communication, writing, and editorial skills in English
  • Experience mentoring, teaching, and leading young students
  • Proficient in Mandarin Chinese.  (Highly desired.)
  • Preference given to candidates who hope to commit to investing in the company for more than 2 years.

What are the Benefits?

  • Compensation is competitive. Includes base salary, per client commission, projects fees, living accommodations and insurance stipend, and annual international travel. Overall compensation depends on ability, experience, and duration and level of commitment.
  • We provide an M business visa, and will assist in Z work visa application.
  • You will be part of an expanding business filled with young and intelligent people who are constantly creating new educational opportunities for Chinese students including but not limited to: intensive English debate camp, factory tours to New Century and Ford, ethnographic research projects in civil rights, and interning with US start-up ventures.
  • The combination of travel, public speaking, marketing events, and sales negotiation with potential clients will truly take your business Chinese to the next level. You would also get to see the middle of the consumer bell curve, instead of just highly informed and rational clients in major Chinese cities. For example, you would begin to understand how selling services in Hangzhou takes a nuanced and nonlinear “emotional vocabulary”, whereas selling in Beijing often requires traditional anticipatory logic.
In part enabled by the unique skill set and high caliber network they acquire with us during a relatively short time period, past Zeal Consultants have gone on to start businesses in China, management consulting, Harvard and Georgetown Law, a Supreme Court internship, a documentary filmmaking career, working in US university Admissions Offices, medical school, and also to become teachers in the US and China.
