Job Description
WeSecretary, a virtual concierge service based in Beijing (wesecretary.com), is looking for English speaking interns to help provide support as we bootstrap the company. We launched in May 2015 and have had had strong growth coupled with positive media attention.
The ideal candidate has experience in customer service, has a solid understanding of Chinese (including reading), computer literacy (fast typing skills), is both self-motivated and a team player, can multitask well, and is motivated to be part of an early phase start-up company. Fluency in languages other than Chinese or English is a plus.
We are unable to offer work visas, and as such are only looking for unpaid interns. Working hours are flexible (we can discuss work schedule during interview) with a maximum of 20 hours per week. Must be able to travel to office in Chaoyang District, Chaowai Dajie. Though the position is “unpaid, we will be able to provide a small stipend to cover transportation/lunch costs (aka weekend beer money). We can also provide free subscriptions to Popup Chinese.
Students are welcome with on-the-job training. You will quickly improve your proficiency in Chinese by working in a bilingual environment with Chinese staff and learn about the services and tech markets, while gaining numerous skills and knowledge concerning the lifestyle of China. Build your resume with experience at a startup company in one of the hottest growth economies in the world. We can provide glowing recommendation letters for schools and job applications. Upon further growth of the company, job hiring priority will be given former interns.
We expect our interns to be able to handle the incoming flux of requests from users, quickly understand the requirements, interact with our back end system to queue the requests, and interact with Chinese fulfillment to schedule and complete the tasks. We are looking for native English speakers in order to provide a higher level of customer service in accordance with Western cultural expectations, while simultaneously being able to convey said requirements to Chinese staff.
