The writer will discuss the first novel in his “Dragon Scripts” series, entitled “The Legacy of Ma Jun”. He will review what led him to writing, how the series has developed, along with a short reading. In this first novel, set in Hunan Province, Professor George Mathers and his wife make an incredible discovery on Tianmen Mountain. Artifacts are retrieved that have survived centuries of rebellion and revolution. Could they substantiate the truth in many of China’s deep-rooted myths? Back at their lab in Beijing, the couple and their research team work to decipher the ancient writing on these objects. The find becomes known to both Chinese and American authorities; plunging them into a complex web of intrigue in Zhangjiajie and the capital.
Stuart Cotterill now lives and writes in Asheville, North Carolina. He has lived and worked in many parts of the world, including several years in Beijing. He has finally brought his passion for China—its culture, history, and people—into his writing. His visit will include working on additional material for his stories.
