JOB DESCRIPTION
As an intern with Planet Finance, you will contribute to efforts to develop microfinance in China and contribute to poverty alleviation efforts. You will work a minimum of 2-to-3-days a week in our Beijing Office over a minimum period of 3 months, supporting PlaNet Finance China staff with day-to-day tasks. Your main tasks will be to proposal writing, managing external and internal communications, assisting with recruitment, general office administration, and strategic projects. This is a great opportunity to get exposure to microfinance in China for those interested in development finance work. Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
- Communications
· Writing and editing English-language content for the www.planetfinancechina.org website and coordinating translation and uploading of the corresponding Chinese-language content (including blog, news, project pages, resource center etc.)
· Assist with the writing, coordination and publishing of written marketing materials such as newsletters, proposals, project reports, brochures etc.
· Update and create new marketing materials related to changes in PlaNet Finance China activities;
· Interface with the donor community and journalists;
· Communicating with website managers
· And assist other Chinese staff with general inquiries about usage in the English-language.
- Administration
· Assisting the Director of Administration and Finance (DAF) with recruitment activities, particularly in using English-based recruitment websites such as Idealist.org, Microfinance Gateway and translating job advertisements and descriptions into English;
· And providing support to the DAF with internal communications between PFC and HQ in Paris (and possibly other offices in the PF network).
- Project Support
· From time to time, you may be called on to assist with microfinance and development project support which may include proposal writing, conducting desk research, writing project reports (such as the baseline analysis report), assisting with entry of data collected throughout projects and such. These tasks will vary and depend on specific needs at any given moment as well as the qualifications of the intern. We are happy to give more responsibility if the intern is up to it.
