A major startup seeking to build the first truly modern, global network of K-12 coeducational independent schools opening in September 2019 seeks an Admission Associate to join an approximately 10-person recruitment team developing, building, and working in our organization’s Washington, D.C. Office of Admission and Financial Aid. 

 

With our first campuses opening in Washington, D.C. and Shenzhen in 2019, we will grow to 30 campuses in each of the world’s major cities.  With support from major global investors and iconic firms such as McKinsey, CBRE, and Renzo Piano, each campus will provide six different kinds of education: full day school for local students; five-day boarding school for local/regional students; full boarding for national/global students; after-school and weekend programs for any student; summer school and programs for any student; and online programs for any student. 

 

This position will be responsible for finding, recruiting, supporting, selecting, and matriculating students for the Washington, D.C. campus from the local area and around the United States.  While most students will come from the Washington, D.C. metro area this diverse campus will recruit from around the country and the world as well.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:      

 

 

·      Support the Washington, D.C. Director of Admission to develop, implement, evaluate, and continuously refine the Washington, D.C. campus’s strategy for finding, recruiting, accepting, and matriculating best-fit students from the metro area and greater United States. 

·      Build and maintain communication and relationships with all key internal and external partners including feeder schools, professional organizations, counselors, consultants, families, and others as necessary to support the recruitment of an exceptional class of students for entry in September 2019 and beyond.

·      Manage a geographic territory for recruitment as defined by the Washington, D.C. Director of Admission, including travel activities, workshops, presentations, interview assignments, fairs, school and consultant visits. 

·      Maintain and use accurate data related to all work and territory management to write summary reports and recommend future actions. 

·      Conduct interviews and group information sessions in our Washington, D.C. Parent Information Center with prospective students, parents, and other interested parties.  Once moved into the Washington, D.C. campus in September 2019, continue this work on site. 

·      Support the Washington, D.C. campus in evaluating applications for admission and participate in all committee selection processes.

·      Travel up to six weeks for recruitment on an annual basis.

·      Perform other duties as assigned by the Washington, D.C. Director of Admission and Financial Aid and by the Washington, D.C. Head of School.

 

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

·      Understanding of educational recruitment, admission, and program practices in the United States.

·      Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with adults and children, among both small groups, larger audiences, and individuals.

·      Experience working in diverse, multicultural and multinational communities and work environments.

·      Detail-oriented approach with exceptional organizational and project management skills.

·      Experience and skill with computer technology including database management, Excel, and Word.

·      Ability to work independently without close supervision.

·      Willingness to support the development of the Washington, D.C. Office of Admission and Financial Aid in both teams and individually.

·      Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends and travel up to six weeks a year.

·      BA required, MA a plus; fluency in languages over than English, particularly Chinese, desirable.
