Currently, we have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated professional for the position of Program Coordinator in the Hopkins-Nanjing Center Washington Office (HNCWO). The Program Coordinator position works closely with the Director of HNCWO in all aspects of the work of the HNCWO, including development and implementation of the Center’s student recruitment program. Approximately 40% of the Admissions Coordinator’s time is related to recruiting American and international students for graduate study in China. In the fall semester, extensive travel, including some weekends, is required. Familiarity with American undergraduate educational system, especially those institutions offering strong Chinese language programs, is a must. While visiting college campuses, the Program Coordinator must be able to exercise substantial independent judgment in targeting students with excellent Chinese language proficiency and in developing professional relationships with key faculty members. Other duties include student services support for HNC students in Nanjing and DC, acting as DC liaison for Nanjing faculty members, managing content on the Center’s website; maintaining online admissions records, arranging for Chinese language tests for applicants, turning interested students into formal applicants, and support for HNCWO events and activities. The position also works closely with the HNC team in Washington and in Nanjing in the creation of marketing materials, including the student catalog and recruitment brochures.

Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED required. Four years progressively responsible administrative experience is required. Additional education may substitute for experience. Some related experience in admissions, registrar or financial aid is required. Proficiency in basic data management systems and basic computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint); willingness and ability to learn additional applications as needed.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s preferred. Superior interpersonal, analytical, and problem solving skills. Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong planning and organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. Have exceptional initiative and judgment. Strong marketing skills and customer-service orientation. Ability to work effectively with faculty, administrators, students, alumni and external constituents. Willingness to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally. Knowledge of China and Chinese language ability. Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.
