The Dragon Trip is a leading adventure and educational tour provider for foreign travelers in China and Japan. The company focuses on showing the Real side of these countries by providing adventurous tours for young people and educational excursions for students. The company has offices in London, Shanghai and Beijing. 

We are now looking for an Adventure Expert to join our Educational Tours Division located in the Beijing office. The role will mainly focus on trip operations and sales, with a portion spent travelling to various destinations in China!

This role is ideal for someone who loves adventure and the outdoors, is looking to improve their mandarin, gain sales experience and working in a young start up environment. 

 

Responsibilities

• The job role will be 60% focused on operational and customer service tasks and 40% on sales and business development.  
• Act as a Tour Leader for specialist groups, typically 10 days or less around China, that may involve volunteering, hiking, rafting and other outdoors sports.
• Be responsible for meeting groups on the ground, customer care, and pre departure briefings, both in person and over the phone.
• Assist the Operations Manager in tour guide selection and training.
• Work alongside the Operations Manager to help create itineraries and pre trip inspection visits with clients or operational team. 
• Work with the operations team in improving health and safety. 
• Work with the operations team to develop new products and development of outdoor educational programs.
• Drive and oversee sales to schools in the Asia Region (excluding China). Plan and prioritize all sales activities to client, and prospect new business.
• Work alongside China and UK sales teams to build marketing materials for prospective schools.

 

Management

• This role will be under supervision of Head of Educational Tours, working together with Operations Manager and Asia Educational Tours Manager.

 

Requirements

• Native English speaker preferred 
• Competent Chinese – Speaking and listening HSK 5 preferred.
• Spent at least 1-2 years in Mainland China and has travelled across the country. 
• First aid trained and certification in outdoors activities is preferred but not essential.
• Experienced in working with children. Groups range between ages 8-25.
• Strong communication skills, ability to lead/control groups.
• Ability to manage sales and liaise with clients 
• Good telephone manner.
• Enjoy a start-up environment in an international and Chinese office.
• Interest in travel, adventurous, loves the outdoors and China!

 

Compensation

• 10,000 rmb per month – plus sales and operational commission. (Negotiable)
• Full work visa
